Snell, 77, of Columbus, died Monday, March 6, 2000 at his home. Mr. Snell was born March 30, 1922 in Columbus, son of the late Jamie and Sarah Holmes Snell. He was a life-long resident of Columbus and was a member of Hillcrest Church of God. Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2000 at Parkhill cemetery, with Rev. Joseph N. Howell officiating, according to Striffler- Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. The family will received friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Survivors include his wife, Helen Snell of Columbus; four sons, Aaron Fortune and James Earl Snell, both of Columbus, Jimmy Dearl Snell of Phenix City (AL) and Gerald Snell of LaGrange, GA; a daughter, Sara Stafford of Columbus; a brother, James Snell of Moultrie, GA; a sister, Mary Julia Butler of Jacksonville, FL; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-granchildren. Note: Aaron Fortune is the son of Helen Coe Fortune from a previous marriage. Cleveland's children were from his first marriage to Jessie Nell Howard.
