- General Notes: Info from Barbara Lammon Helland.
The following note from sister Jo:
Barbara Lee Lammon was born in Mobile, Alabama on November 2, 1947. The family called her Bobby, eventually changed to Bobbye. Bobbye moved with the family throughout her childhood, making "best friends" wherever she lived. Every place was her favorite, and she hated to leave each one.
Bobbye had a very good ear and soon picked up the local accents at each town. This probably helped her to blend in quicker. Along with her excellent ear went a strong singing voice. She was the only member of the family that could sing. When she sang, others stopped to listen.
As a child, Bobbye's goal was to be a wife and mother. She announced with some frequency that she wanted to have seven boys She married Stephen Bennett (Steve) Sharber on May 31, 1969. They began working toward Bobbye's goal with the birth of their first son Ben. She was on her way. Three years later Daniel was born and three years after that came Joe. With three boys in the house, she decided that seven boys looked like quite a bit of trouble, and their family was finished.
Bobbye and Steve divorced. Bobbye raised her boys in Katy, Texas, becoming a Texan along with them. Three teen-aged boys was a challenge that she met by being as boisterous as they were. The house was always full of friends and activity. Bobbye has a big heart and never turned away a child that needed a sympathetic ear or some other help.
She also began working in a bank, rising through all bookkeeping positions. She became a bank officer. She survived the Texas banking crises of the 1980's and now in 2000 is the bank employee with the most seniority.
Dale Loner came along, and they married on February 29, 1992. Dale is as out-going and friendly as Bobbye. Grandchildren have begun to add to the swirl of action. It is difficult to tell who spoils them most.
