John Helland
Beloved Father, PaPa, and Friend
1955 - 2025
John Helland, 70, of Sharpsburg, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Chickasaw, Alabama, in 1955, John carried the warmth and grit of his hometown with him wherever he went.
A devoted family man and a lifelong Alabama football fan, John lived with quiet strength and unwavering loyalty. He found joy in the simple things-casting a line in the water, sharing jokes and stories with loved ones, and cheering on the Crimson Tide every fall Saturday. John was known for his kind heart, his tireless work ethic, and a deep sense of responsibility that made him a protector to all who knew him. Whether you needed a strong back, a listening ear, or just someone to stand by you-John showed up.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and steady hands that built a life worth celebrating. His spirit will live on in every sunrise over the water, every family gathering, and every "Roll Tide" called with pride.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at his home on Clearwater Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor John by sharing a story, going fishing with someone you love, or simply lending a hand to someone who needs it-just as he always did.
Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.mckoon.com.
